BVA’s Black Lord Falkhan son and NV Beau Bey son are homozygous for the black gene and will produce beautiful, extremely typey black foals. Completing this incredible trifecta our lineup also includes a gorgeous grey Arabian Stallion MC Psynister. He is a Top Ten National Stallion and has won Multiple Regional Championships as well as Scottsdale Reserve Champion.

Given their pedigree and type, all of our Stallions are capable of producing National quality performance and halter get. All are standing at Rocking Y Ranch in beautiful Labadie, Missouri just west of St. Louis.

My Beginnings

According to the Arabian Horse Association, as of April 2011 there were well over 650,000 registered Arabians in the United States. A little over half of those are mares giving an equal share of the market to the Stallions and Geldings. Nearly 250,000 of those horses are grey, but only 20,000 are black which puts my program at both ends of the spectrum on that one! Seeing these facts made me wonder about my program causing me to remember back to when Black Velvet Arabians began. I’ll never forget when I bought my first Arabian horse about nine years ago. It was really not my idea, but my granddaughters!

I had not owned a horse in many years, but could never lose my passion for them. I wanted to start riding again, but that was before I realized that horses got so darn big. I was too scared to ride them, but I really had a longing to have them in my life again, so everything considered, I decided I would buy a horse….. a baby horse, that I could raise and it would grow to like me! Well, that was all my granddaughter needed to hear!

She got on the internet and started looking at horses. She found a picture of a beautiful black Arabian colt and I had to admit he was beautiful! He was not too far from home so my husband and I packed up that weekend and headed for Southeast Missouri. When we got to the farm and asked to see the black foal, it turned out that he wasn’t a foal at all, but eighteen months old! I was really disappointed because he was so big until I stepped into the stall and he walked up to me and looked at me with those big black, soft eyes. I was entranced by his kind, gentle, intelligent eyes and that was it, I had to have him!

He had the most beautiful face, with a sculptured head, coal black coat and refined body, oh was I in love! When the breeder turned him out in the indoor arena it only got better. I was mesmerized with his carriage, tail in the air, neck arched and feet that moved like they had been choreographed! He pranced around, tossing his head with nostrils flaring. Then he stood and faced me in a proud, statuesque way, commanding all awareness of his presence. He looked like a horse in a mystical dream. "So this is the Arabian Horse"!

I was now totally captivated by the breed. I continued my venture to breed for the best and most beautiful, developing my breeding program along the way. However, there is so much to learn, so much to chance, and I have made mistakes along the way!

Two years ago I acquired a gorgeous grey Arabian stallion MC Psynister, Psynister is a Top Ten Canadian National Champion, Scottsdale Reserve Champion, and has also won multiple Regional Championships. He has proven to be a great addition to our breeding program! In 2011 he produced for us a gorgeous grey Arabian Filly, Psyndrella BVA! Stay tuned for the Rest of the story!
